Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you might have about our Services/Training and provide the answers here. If you need additional information send email andrea@fireintexas.com .

If I am from out of state, or Country how do I get from the airport to the school in Sulphur Springs, TX?

If a student is flying in to attend the Online Fire Academy we will pick the student up at either of the major airports in the Metroplex.  DFW or Dallas Love Field.  Onsite Fire Academy students need to contact us before making flight arrangements to make sure we have an instructor available to pick the student up, and if need be if we have several we will give all students a single day we will pick everyone up.  Either at the airport or at a hotel.

Where will I stay when coming in for the 2 week online skill session?

We have 2 bunkhouses that the online students stay in at no extra charge.

Is there Financial Aid available?

Our training is approved for HB2604 and TIFMAS grants through the Texas Forest Service.
Calling Andrea at 903-438-0300 and she will explain payment options.

Where do the students stay if they are coming in for the 12 week traditional class and/or the 8 week EMT course?

We have a couple of different volunteer departments that house students.  The Volunteer Departments  have their own fees per month that they charge. Call Andrea @ 903-438-0300 and she can give the student the monthly fees for housing and the students options.

When do I have to confirm for my skill session?

Online Fire Academy students must confirm 2 weeks prior to the start date of their scheduled skill session and a minimum of 3/4 of the course work needs to be complete at that time.  All other courses must be confirmed at least 7 business days prior to a scheduled upcoming skill session.  (Before canceling verify with office staff if they can get everything done before you come all is not lost if you didn't confirm)

When do new courses start?

We have new courses starting the 1st and 15th of each month, with a 3 day window.  If we don't have your application by noon  the 3rd class day you will be moved to the next start date.  Or if the 2nd and 3rd class days land on a weekend or holiday weekend. If a student or department is utilizing their department to conduct skills then the course will not start until the MOU has been completed and approved.  Then per TCFP a course approval will be created and it will be a minimum of 10 days after the MOU has been completed and approved.

Where do I find skill session dates?

Skill Session dates are found at the top of each page of the course under quick links "Online skill schedule All courses"
