No Travel Expenses:  Ask us about getting an MOU for the student to do skills at their own department Texas only.  TCFP and/or Fire in Texas may audit the skill session.

1.  This skill session being conducted at another department requires an engine to be taken out of service.  The skills location must have a place large enough to do the driving skills and the proctors must also have a Hydrant available to flow water for the student/students.  Proctors will also need all the applicances,  adapters, cones, tape measures, and the current skill sheets off of the Texas Commission on Fire Protection website for each student to be completed.  The skill sheets will tell you what is required for each skill we highly recommend doing these skills off duty or when you do not have to respond to calls or have coverage.  Once State skills start they cannot be stopped to run calls.    Skills must be conducted according to the TCFP skill sheets not how the proctors or students department does the skills.

2.  To get started the Fire Chief or Training officer must email andrea@fireintexas.com or alyse@fireintexas.com for a MOU to be completed.  The course cannot start until we receive the MOU back. We have to have all of that information available to complete the Training Approval in Fido for TCFP.  Fido does not allow for courses to start right away.  The Commission requires a 10 day waiting period at this time.  So it will be a minimum of 10 days before a student would be able to start the course.  If we receive the MOU when our offices are closed (example:  holidays or weekends) then it could be longer.  We cannot change the end date in FIDO so pick a day both proctors and students are available.  Everything has to be completed as it is on the MOU the training officer or proctor sends back to us and at those dates and times.

3.  This is very important.  There is no refunds on classes that MOU's are requested on that the student has sent the registration form and paid.  Students are eligible to come to us for skills but we will not refund because your department won't do the paperwork and get it back to us.  This is a convenience for the student but is by far a lot more work for Fire in Texas instructors and staff.  Fire in Texas offers skill sessions monthly. We are set up to do these skills.  More times than not a student can sign up do the course and skills and take the state test before they get all their paperwork and proctors together to do skills at their department.  This is really only beneficial for a department that is a long ways off from us.

*Skill sessions not conducted our facility may have additional fees contact andrea@fireintexas.com or alyse@fireintexas.com for more information.
